Hungarian sour cherry products conquer consumers worldwide.
Fruitmarketing Ltd is engaed in the trade of all sorts of fruits, vegetables and fine foods grown in Hungary. The main profile of the company is the production and sale of sour cherries, canned sour cherries, sour cherry pálinka and other processed sour cherry products.
Sour cherry varieties are grouped in three distinct categories in industrial usage, each with very different properties:
- Juicy varieties with lots of colour substance, fit for juice production, e.g. "Gypsy sour cherry"
- Large varieties with firm flesh and a balanced sugar and acid content, used in the canning industry, e.g. "Pándy".
- Varieties used in the confectionary industry, e.g. "Pipacs".
The purée produced from Hungarian sour cherries contains more antioxidants and five times more anthocyanins than the purée made from the Montmorency variety , wich is widely produced in America, Asia and Western Europe.
